LONGEST SERVING PSL PLAYERS

-

Happy Jele is royalty in domestic football for having only played for one club through all of his professional career to date.

His loyalty has seen him breeze to his 16th season with The Buccaneers, making him the longest serving PSL player at one club from the day of their first team debut.

He has already bettered Williams Okpara’s long standing mark of most starts for the club, winning two league titles, two Nedbank Cups, one Telkom Knockout, three MTN8 titles, along with runners-up medals for both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.

Fellow veteran Itumeleng Khune has also walked the same road of loyalty at rivals Kaizer Chiefs. Khune is now into his 18th

season since he was promoted to the first team in 2004 though it is his 15th campaign since he made his first team debut.

He is already a legend at the club and has Doctor Khumalo’s most starts record of 397 within sight.

Both Jele and Khune remain some way off from being the oldest players in the league with Pirates goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands, now 38, the senior statesman in the league.
