Bafana Bafana vs Ghana

- By Johannes Letsholo, Kimberley, Northern Cape

am writing this letter after SAFA officially lo odged a complaint against the referee w who was officiating the World Cup qualifier b between Ghana and South Africa in Cape C Coast.

I was blown away with horror to see how some s officials spoil the beautiful game. The question q that came in my mind was, ‘do CAF bosses watch such games?’. If so, what is it that is being done?

South African teams, including PSL teams participating in the Champion League, have on the end of such unwelcoming behaviour. Some are being intimidated, and this has been going on and on for years. Why such treatment in West African countries? Why must it always be the West African countries to qualify for World Cups?

South Africa worked hard to make sure they put themselves in a good position to qualify but one official thought otherwise. Why must South African teams always endure this hostility when going to other African nations?

This has been going for so long, even if the outcome of this match will be a replay, that will not root out the problem of the hostile our teams come across when they play other African teams. A lot needs to be done by CAF and FIFA to end this situation.

There is a lot that can be said about West African teams’ treatment towards South Africa, but when they come here they get best hospitality.
