Kick Off

ALL IN A SEASON’S WORK!

-

Mamelodi Sundowns’ route to the title this season came at the back of taking points from all their opponents in the league.

The Brazilians took at least three points from 13 of 15 teams that lined up against them as opponents this term.

Sekhukhune United, Lamontville Golden Arrows, Swallows, TS Galaxy, Chippa United, Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Baroka FC, Royal AM, Marumo Gallants, Maritzburg United, Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu were all ripped and had already been beaten at least once by Sundowns at the time of their confirmation as champions with four games remaining.

That meant 39 points were already in the bag for Sundowns with a top up of another top of 19 needed to seal the title.

Only Cape Town City was able to avoid defeat at that time of writing, having played goalless draws in both of their games, the second of which came on the night when Sundowns were confirmed as champions yet again. Stellenbosch drew at home against Sundowns and were due to play their second match against the champions in mid-May.
