Loyalty vs consistency

- By Wandile Mtana, Uitenhage

Of course, change is good when a club wants better results, and this enables them to improve their squad. I must commend Chiefs for bravery to release players but how they did it is suspicious and biased. My scepticism is around certain senior players that dodged the bullet to stay behind despite being inconsistent in form with less game time. Yes, they have shown loyalty over years, but they can’t hold the club ransom.

Chiefs need good players to restore better results on the field of play, not players who will stay behind and think their places are guaranteed.

This loyalty versus consistency emerged as obstacles for Chiefs over years and history repeats itself once again. These ageing players have to go to start afresh with young players that will carry us for longer. I understand experience has to be there to produce better results, but then blood these young players to gain such experience. Overall, I see the light at the end of the tunnel after the overhaul was implemented and the presence of Kaizer Motaung Jr as sporting director is felt since he took over the reins.

We’ve been a laughing stock for some time and is now time to revive team ambitions to bring back past glories.
