Gauteng tourist’s vehicle stoned at Nekkies
A case of malicious damage to property is being investigated by the police following an alleged incident on the N2 near Nekkies on 27 March, when a tourist from Gauteng was the victim of a stoning incident.
John Heijman claims the incident occurred at around 17:45 and the stoning damaged his rental vehicle as well as another vehicle travelling behind him.
“I wish to warn residents and tourists of this incident,” he said in a letter to the Knysna-Plett Herald.
Knysna police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says the 68-year-old victim alleged he was travelling from Knysna towards Bitou when a group of kids threw stones towards his vehicle.
“His vehicle was damaged and a case was later opened. Investigation into this matter continues,” says Spies. “Road users are requested to contact their nearest police station to report such incidents immediately for assistance.”
