Gau­teng tou­rist’s vehi­cle sto­ned at Nek­kies

A ca­se of ma­li­ci­ous da­ma­ge to pro­per­ty is being in­ves­ti­ga­ted by the po­li­ce fol­lo­wing an al­le­ged in­ci­dent on the N2 ne­ar Nek­kies on 27 March, w­hen a tou­rist from Gau­teng was the victim of a sto­ning in­ci­dent.

John Hei­j­man claims the in­ci­dent occur­red at a­round 17:45 and the sto­ning da­ma­ged his ren­tal vehi­cle as well as a­not­her vehi­cle tra­vel­ling be­hind him.

“I wish to warn re­si­dents and tou­ris­ts of this in­ci­dent,” he said in a let­ter to the Knys­na-P­lett He­rald.

Knys­na po­li­ce spo­kes­per­son Ser­ge­ant Chris Spies says the 68-y­e­ar-old victim al­le­ged he was tra­vel­ling from Knys­na to­wards Bi­tou w­hen a group of kids threw sto­nes to­wards his vehi­cle.

“His vehi­cle was da­ma­ged and a ca­se was la­ter o­pe­ned. In­ves­ti­ga­ti­on in­to this mat­ter con­ti­nues,” says Spies. “Ro­ad u­sers are re­que­sted to con­tact their ne­a­rest po­li­ce sta­ti­on to report such in­ci­dents im­me­di­a­te­ly for as­sis­tan­ce.”
