again urge the community to cooperate and work with the police within the parameters of the law.

We also noted the comments made by Mr Alton Dyonase, the chairperson of the Sector 4 community police subforum. The issues he addressed and made reference to will be dealt with within our internal structures. Dear Sergeant Spies

Thank you for your response to the article of 5 July in KPH entitled “CPF members ‘wrongfully’ arrested…”

In terms of the title, the word “wrongfully” was placed in inverted commas, which indicates it is not a statement of the publication but rather attributed to one of the interviewees (in this case one Alton Dyonase).

We duly note that only one of the suspects is a member of the Sector 4 community police subforum. We repeated the information from the chairperson of this forum – who stipulated that both suspects were members – in good faith. Thank you for helping us to rectify this fact and placing the role of volunteer community patrollers in perspective – Ed.

Sector 4 community forum members outside the Knysna Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 3 July in support of their members who they say have been falsely accused.
