Lost&Found gearing up for Knysna gig

-

Lost&Found is a South African two-piece alternative rock group made up of drummer Jason Oosthuizen and guitarist/vocalist Glenn Hodgson. Jason has played for many bands – Van Coke Kartel, Jack Parow and the Black Cat Bones to name a few, while Glenn is better known as a member of The Parlotones.

What started off as a singer/songwriter project for Glenn was quickly transformed when Jason joined on drums in late 2015. The duo recorded their debut self-titled album in January 2016 and hit the road straight to tour South Africa.

This first offering was nominated for a 2017 South African Music Award for best rock album.

In January they released their sophomore album entitled Snakes & Ladders, written over the course of 11 months in between being on the road. Production on a number of songs on the album was done by Theo Crous (ex-Springbok Nude Girls/Kobus) at his studio in Bellville, while others were recorded at Jason’s house with Dane Taylor.

“We really enjoy making music together and when the first record had no more legs, we were super excited to get back into the studio and bang out some new tunes!” says Jason Oosthuizen.

The duo describes the new album as more “dirty rock ‘n’ roll” as opposed to the first record which had a more acoustic feel to it, although their signature-honest lyrics still shine through. They chose the title Snakes & Ladders to represent the ups and downs of life and to convey the message that how you are going to deal with it, is up to each individual.

The new album is a representation of their new honed sound – straightforward rock ‘n’ roll with big guitars, busy drumming and meaningful lyrics.
