Leisure Isle Festival is here again

-

On Saturday and Sunday this week, Leisure Isle turns into Treasure Isle once more as the 2018 Leisure Isle Festival returns to Kingsway Park with 120 stalls catering for every taste offering a huge selection of arts and crafts, toys, books, indigenous and other plants and a mouthwatering array of food, drink and fresh produce.

The festival is the perfect day out for families with something for all ages. Younger ones will find lots to do in the Queen Bee Activity Area and take part in the Treasure Hunt which starts at Knysna Basin Project’s stand, while parents start their Xmas shopping as they browse the many stalls offering an eclectic range of quality products including many exciting new ones for 2018.

And the whole family can relax and refresh themselves at the many food and drink stalls in the Food Area.

This year the festival has a strong environmental theme – stallholders are encouraged not to use plastic bags and packaging, and Steenbok Nature Reserve and Knysna Basin Project are running quizzes with valuable prizes including the new edition of Living Shores by George and Margot Branch and Steenbok’s guide to the local flora and fauna.

The festival is about much more than fun and enjoyment – its purpose is also to help build a sense of community spirit across Knysna and to support local charities which are in great need of support.

This year the proceeds of the festival will be given to eight charities: Knysna Sedgefield Hospice; Vermont Old Age Home; Knysna Animal Welfare; The e'Pap Feeding Scheme; Loeriehof Old Age Home; Steenbok Nature Reserve; Hands & Hearts – Emdeni; and Knysna Sea Cadets. Your support will help them continue their important work.

The festival opening hours are 09.00 to 17:00 on Saturday and 10:00 to 15:00 on Sunday. There is plenty of parking organised by the Knysna Sea Scouts at the entrance to Leisure Isle – please give generously to them.
