My­ers tar­ge­ted on­ce mo­re

DA coun­cil­lor Pe­ter My­ers ap­pea­red a­gain be­fo­re an e­thi­cs com­mit­tee last week in the la­test of a bar­ra­ge of char­ges a­gainst him, t­his time re­la­ting to an accu­sa­ti­on that he dis­clo­sed con­fi­den­ti­al ad­mi­nis­tra­ti­on re­la­ted in­for­ma­ti­on so­meti­me in Oc­to­ber 2017.

It has sin­ce been es­ta­blis­hed that the com­plai­nant in the mat­ter is Ju­lie Se­ton, who al­so g­oes by the sur­na­mes Jef­fe­rys and Lo­pes.

Se­ton pre­vi­ous­ly tried her hand for a few mont­hs as a free­lan­ce re­por­ter for the Knys­na-P­lett He­rald and she al­le­ges that du­ring t­his time My­ers had sup­p­lied the e­di­tor at the time, Elai­ne King, with con­fi­den­ti­al in­for­ma­ti­on re­gar­ding Se­ton’s job ap­pli­ca­ti­on to mu­ni­ci­pa­li­ty.

My­ers rei­te­ra­tes that he “ca­te­go­ri­cal­ly de­nies the char­ges” and firm­ly be­lie­ves that t­his dis­ci­pli­na­ry pro­cess is part of the “on­going per­so­nal and po­li­ti­cal ven­det­ta” a­gainst him.

He ap­pea­red be­fo­re the com­mit­tee o­ver two days (21 and 22 No­vem­ber) last week and ar­gu­ments we­re he­ard be­fo­re the mat­ter was pos­t­po­ned to a da­te in De­cem­ber.

“The al­le­ga­ti­ons are com­ple­te non­sen­se and an ab­so­lu­te far­ce which I will e­a­si­ly pro­ve,” says My­ers.
