Puppet show Carols by Candleligh­t

Get ready for the annual Knysna Sedgefield Hospice Candles by Candleligh­t event on 19 December 2018 at 19:00, at Woodmill Lane. Entry by donation to Knysna Sedgefield Hospice. Memory candles for the tree of lights can be bought on the evening – proceeds to Hospice. Bring a chair and a wrapped gift marked “girl” or “boy” and the age group for which it is meant. Father Christmas will be there to collect the gifts and have photos with the children. Come early to reserve the best seats.

Weeding Wednesday

Help with the control of alien vegetation and learn more about our local indigenous plants at Pledge Nature Reserve every Wednesday from 09:30 to 10:30. More info: 082 773 4118.

Bridge pairs mornings

Duplicate bridge every Wednesday and Thursday at the Knysna angling club. R30 playing fee includes tea/coffee. All welcome on a “walk in” basis. Register by 08:45 to play by 09:00. “Singles” will be paired to play together. Players can stay after play when Heidi Atkinson will answer questions and go over any difficult hands at no charge, to encourage players to improve. Rotarians get together

The Rotary Club of Knysna meets at the Knysna Yacht Club every Tuesday from 12:30 onwards for the lunch meeting from 13:00 to 14:00. All visiting Rotarians are welcome as well as potential new members.

Visit Pledge Nature Reserve – 10 hectares of pure nature in the heart of Knysna. Open every day from 07:00 to 18:00. Entry off Main Road between Postnet and Steers. Dogs on leashes welcome. The Friday Market at Knysna Montessori School in Kanonkop Street is open from 16:00 - 20:30. The market offers supervised parking, seating and shelter, bonfires and live music, a quality craft selection, a bar and an amazing choice of locally produced food, which may be enjoyed on the premises or at home.

Sedgefield: Wild Oats Community farmers’ market every Saturday morning (an award-winning market with over 60 stalls of the finest local farm produce, home bakes, plants and flowers, outdoor breakfast and live music), Scarab Craft Village and Mosaic Market, all in close proximity along the N2.

Plettenber­g Bay: Harkervill­e Saturday Market every Saturday morning offers food, art and craft and more, on the N2 midway between Knysna and Plettenber­g Bay.

Run free

Knysna parkrun: free, timed 5km run every Saturday at 08:00, starting at grassed area next to the scout hall in George Rex Drive. The aim is to promote health and fitness. To register go to www.parkrun.co.za.

Harkervill­e parkrun: Start at the field opposite the Harkervill­e market on Saturdays, just off the N2 between Knysna and Plett (about 22km from Knysna). Please be there by 07:45.
