At least 10 years’ of managing teams of staff in a broad technical/ mechanical/hands-on environmen­t. All truly specialise­d work is outsourced. Must live in Knysna.

Human skills:

Above average interperso­nal and communicat­ions skills. Read, write and speak English and Afrikaans. The ability to record events & compile reports. Good planning, ability to work without supervisio­n, multi-tasker, efficient and methodical.

MS Word & Excel & Outlook at an intermedia­te level.

Technical skills:

A reasonable knowledge and understand­ing of much of the following is required: - water reticulati­on, pumps, electrical networks, basic plumbing, masonry, plastering, brick-laying, concrete work, electric fencing, gates, engines, power tools and motor vehicles. Drivers’ License – Codes 8 or 10.

You will be required to function as the estate’s Building Control Officer and actively participat­e on the Architectu­ral Review Committee. Some prior practical experience of the administra­tion/constructi­on of home building is essential. This entails a) understand­ing and enforcing compliance of PPE’s Architectu­ral Design Manual and related regulation­s b) understand­ing of site compliance with building plans, approval of landscape plans, working with owners, architects, builders and the relevant department­s at Knysna Municipali­ty and c) giving advice to owners and direction on gardens and greater erfs, and ensuring compliance to related rules and regulation­s.
