Two locals are still missing

-

The Knysna detective branch is investigating the disappearance of Francis Froechlick (55) who was last seen at White Location on Monday 14 October. The information available indicates she was dressed in a white dress at the time she went missing. There is no photograph available at this stage.

Anyone with information about Froechlick's whereabouts may contact Sergeant Mario Uithaler on 044 302 6652 or 044 302 6633.

In another matter, it is now three weeks later and 11-yearold Oyisa Mgqwaci from eThembeni, Joodsekamp in Knysna is still missing.

Following an extensive search for the Chris Nissen Primary School learner by family and the community, the police, CPF and K9 unit since her disappearance on 5 October, the police say they have since scaled down the search but that the investigation into the matter continues.

According to reports, Oyisa went out with friends but never returned home. She was dressed in a blue shirt and blue jeans at the time.

Speaking on behalf of the family, her uncle Luntu Bevile said they as a family draw strength from the community that has not stopped searching for their Oyisa and following all leads that might reunite them again. "It is really a difficult time and I cannot put into words what the parents are going through, not knowing whether their child is alive or not, whether they are warm and whether they ate. This is every parent's worst nightmare. What is mindboggling is how small Knysna is and how an 11-year-old can go missing for this long in such a small place, surely someone must've seen something, heard something…" Bevile said at this stage they will accept "just about anything". "We just need to know what happened to her.”

The police confirmed this week that the search for Oyisa is ongoing and the George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences unit has urged the public to help find the girl. Anyone with information can contact Sergeant Ludwe Dlambulo on 082 335 1200 or 044 302 6677. All information will be dealt with confidentially.
