MosJazz Festival the biggest yet

-

The third edition of the MosJazz Festival, due to take place from 28 November to 2 December, is eagerly anticipated. The festival is an initiative of events company Camissa Solutions, which has an impressive portfolio of annual events.

Established in 2009, the portfolio includes Jazz on the Rocks – Tietie's Bay (10th edition), the Love Jazz Cruise (9th edition), the Cederberg Kuns en Kultuur Fees – Clanwilliam (6th edition) and Worcester Sunsplash (inaugural edition). All Camissa events are outdoor events, located close to water sources like rivers, dams or the sea.

"An international trend is to locate music festivals outside of four walls, in nature, with multiple stimuli coming to bear," says Clarence Ford, a partner in the enterprise.

In the Camissa model, annual events are located in rural communities, around the unique attractions of the host town. The event has multiple purposes, most notably stimulating the local tourism and cultural industries. The Camissa model is premised on the foundation of building local expertise in all areas of festival design and operation. Youth skills and entrepreneurial development is a yearlong activity. Already Camissa Solutions and its strategic partner, the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, have been active in many schools across the Garden Route. The third edition of the MosJazz Festival will feature a structural engineering feat, with a bespoke stage that will be built in the sea. "We have contracted the services of a German structural engineer to design and build a stage that fits snugly into the De Bakke beach space. Mossel Bay is ready for the world-class production techniques that we have envisaged from the outset,"

says Lovetta Bolters, CEO of Camissa Solutions.

The company anticipates a growing influx of tourists, from around the country and the world, to partake in the music spectacle.

The programming formulary is eclectic, with diverse musical offerings built around a jazz and related nucleus. Ernie Smith, N2, Early B (Ben 10), Jarrad Rickets, Public Opinion, Ocean Breeze, Kurt Darren, Late Final, Vuvu Khumalo, G Minor, Ladgen's Tribute Band, Sons of Selassie, Salome, Donveno's Got the Funk, Jabez, Jimmy Dludlu, Alistair Izobel, Claire Phillips, Signature SA, and Jeodhouse are some of the artistes contracted.

All residents of the Garden Route who buy their tickets from the Fork & Train Restaurant at Santos Beach in Mossel Bay, will receive a discount of 10%.
