Carmen goes down the rabbit hole

- Blake Linder

Carmen's School of Dance's dancers took to the stage at Knysna's NG Church on Friday 8 November to venture down the rabbit hole and end their year off with their Into

Wonderland production.

This year has once again been fruitful for the local dance studio, with a list of achievements coming from various eisteddfods and competitions around the country throughout the year, and the studio looked to end their year off on a high with yet another top year-end production, which was put together by the usual team behind the studio as well as the dancers' parents.

With stunning props and costumes at the ready, the dancers assumed their various roles ready to dazzle the full audience eager for a spectacular show. The premise of the age-old story to be retold by Carmen's dancers revolved around Alice losing her new ball in the garden with it disappearing through a hidden door. Curiously determined, Alice ventures through the door to embark on a spectacular adventure throughout Wonderland, encountering a number of interesting characters along the way, leaving her wondering whether everything is real.

Alison Kolbe charismatically led the show in the titular role of Alice, while loads of adorable dancers pranced about the stage around her to many a round of applause. A day later, the dancers mesmerised another audience when they had a second performance, also at the NG Church.
