Licences for the youth
Knysna Municipality's Youth Desk launched its Driver's Licence programme at the municipality's council chambers on Wednesday 1 September. According to the municipality, the programme will assist the youth in obtaining a driver's license which will, in turn, assist them in their search for employment. A total of 23 young people, between the ages of 24 and 35, from various wards within Greater Knysna will soon start with their driving lessons as part of the programme.
Knysna Mayor Elrick van Aswegen encouraged the youth. "Unemployment is a great concern, especially among the youth. This programme will bring you a step closer to achieving your dreams and obtaining independence," he said. "Please make the best of this opportunity and have a positive mindset. You can achieve just about anything. Believe it."
