Knysna’s top golfers crowned
KNYSNA - The best golfers at Knysna Golf Club were recently crowned at its annual club championship which took place over two days last weekend, 26 and 27 March.
This year a full field of 128 members competed for a host of trophies and prizes across three divisions for both men and ladies.
"The combination of ideal weather, excellent organisation, superb course presentation and generous sponsorships made the 2022 club championship a truly memorable occasion," said club general manager Meyer du Toit.
The two-day competition also created a fun yet competitive atmosphere from the very start with sponsored gifts, free drinks and refreshments provided before, during and after the competition - plus live music on Saturday evening.
"The clubhouse and terrace were packed with members and their families, all eagerly awaiting the prize presentation on Sunday afternoon," said Du Toit.
This year's ladies' champion was longstanding member and previous lady captain KJ Redman with a combined gross score of 173 over the two rounds. The men's championship was won by a newer member, Anthony Parker, with a gross score of 142.
"Both winners expressed their thanks and admiration for the way in which the championship had been organised," Du Toit said. "I must also commend the hard work and dedication of the club's staff and caddies for making it such a successful event. The club is also eternally grateful to our main sponsor, PSG Wealth Insure Knysna, who took the opportunity to pledge their ongoing support. It will be a hard act to follow in 2023!"
