It sunny... must be

KNYSNA - Rotary Knysna recently received a very welcome boost to its Rotary Dent project, with thousands being donated after a fundraiser concert organised last weekend.

The show, A Tribute to Abba, featuring Mike & the Harmonix, took place at Blend Country Restaurant on Saturday

15 October. It was a full house and everybody had a great time.

It was the group's second visit to Knysna this year, having formed part of Better Live's Knysna Oyster Festival line-up in July, and it was evident that the people of Knysna were yearning for more from Mike & the

Harmonix.

While a success on the stage, the show was an even greater success off-stage as more than R16k was raised to support the Rotary Dent project that will take place in April 2023.

“Through this project, we will see over 600 children receive critical dental care that they might otherwise miss. Through the generosity of both local and international dentists and dental assistants, lives will be changed for the better in our community,” said George Coon, Rotary Knysna president.

“Special thanks go to Dominic and Jackie of Better Live for professionally organising this event - they did a splendid job with a sold-out show! Thanks must also go to Kevin, Cheryl-Lee and their team at Blend - we couldn't have asked for a better setting for the performance.

“And, of course, we are grateful to Mike & the Harmonics for the wonderful entertainment! We look forward to working together with Better Live and Blend again soon!”

Before the show, organisers Better Live's Dominic Morel presented a cheque for

R12 000 to Coon, however with last minute additions and walk-in ticket sales on the night, the actual amount raised was R16 608,18 nearly doubling the expectation of both Rotary and the organisers.

“We're incredibly grateful to Knysna for their incredible support of this fundraising event - and with so many good causes in the town it certainly won't be our last,” Morel said.
