A big year for Concordia Primary dance group
The inaugural year of the dance group at Concordia Primary School has been nothing short of remarkable. With a series of impressive performances and notable achievements, the young dancers have showcased their talent and passion on various stages.
The Concordia Primary School dance group was started in February of this year and is led by educator, Zanette Terblanche.
After starting out with a small group of 20 learners, it quickly grew to more than 50 learners at one stage. Afterwards, a smaller group of 10 learners were chosen to compete and participated at the Garden Route Eisteddfod.
The group's journey commenced with their participation in the Decade Festival held at Concordia Primary School in March.
It was an exhilarating experience for all involved, as the dancers took to the stage for the first time, captivating the audience with their skill and enthusiasm.
The excitement continued as the learners embarked on their first-ever performance on a grand scale at the Knysna Youth Day event. This was a significant platform for the dancers to showcase their talent in front of a larger audience and leave a lasting impression.
The recognition for their exceptional skill extended beyond the boundaries of their school. They were invited to perform at the George Museum for the WCED Visual Arts Exhibition on 19 July, where their performances added a vibrant element to the event.
At the prestigious Garden Route Eisteddfod, the Concordia Primary School dance group's outstanding performance earned them an impressive score of A+++ (95%) and a special award, recognising their talent and hard work. The dancers were invited to the Garden Route Eisteddfod gala event. Held on 9 September, this prestigious gathering showcased the most remarkable performances from across the region. The learners embraced the opportunity with fervour, delivering a breathtaking performance that wowed the audience.
"The accomplishments of the Concordia Primary dance crew in just one year are a testament to their dedication, talent, and potential," says Terblanche. "I am incredibly proud of their achievements and excited for what the future holds. With their passion, hard work, and continued growth,
I have no doubt that this is just the beginning of a remarkable journey for the Concordia Primary dance crew."
