KNYSNA - The Knysna Art Society launched the highly anticipate­d Be Seated art rt exhibition on Saturday 30 September at the Old Gaol Knysna, a groundbrea­king event that captured the attention and excitement of art enthusiast­s in the region. This innovative exhibition encouraged artists to explore the chair as a medium and unleash their creativity. With 23 talented artists from m across the country y exhibiting their works, the event proved to be a resounding resound success.

The exhibition e broke new ground by challengin­g artists artist to utilise an otherwise oth mundane piece pie of furniture as their primary medium, think beyond convention­al canvases c and embrace em the chair as as symbol of human connection. co

“It is the first time that t this the type Knysna of event,” Arts Society is hosting says s Zelmarie van Rooyen Roo of the Knysna Arts Art Society. “The artists contribute­d con the chair as their the canvas along with poetry poe that would be incorporat­ed i into a 3D 3 installati­on. “All of this was done within the theme of movies and book titles. There were

no limits placed on their creativity, with there being all sorts of frames of reference for the theme. Everyone has had fun with this exhibition and the main aim was for the artists to have fun with the theme. We wanted to encourage the artists to bring their crafty side to this theme and work outside the stricter, traditiona­l framework.”

For those interested in experienci­ng this extraordin­ary display of artistic expression, the exhibition is running until tomorrow, Friday 6 October, in Old Gaol visiting hours.
