Ladies Loeries spread their wings

-

The third annual Seeff Knysna Ladies Loeries Golf Tournament, held from 13 to 15 October, was a resounding success, bringing together 40 female golfers from around the country.

The brainchild of Meyer du Toit, general manager of Knysna Golf Club, Gail Rimbault of Seeff Knysna and Cale Jansen, founder of Fairways to Africa, the event aims to elevate the standard of ladies golf competitions with international appeal. The primary goal of the Ladies Loeries tournament is to empower women in the world of golf, providing a platform for sport, enjoyment and networking among like-minded enthusiasts.

Noteworthy were Caroline and Rachel, who travelled from Kenya to participate in this year's Loeries Tournament, underscoring the event's global appeal. Cale Jansen, CEO of Fairways to Africa, highlighted the Ladies Loeries as their flagship event, thanks to its unique appeal and the support of numerous national and local sponsors.

Careful planning ensured a diverse representation of South Africa's female golf enthusiasts, supported by main sponsors Seeff Knysna and Standard Bank. The Ladies Loeries tournament is gaining a reputation as the most celebrated ladies amateur golf event in the country. The weekend commenced with a warm welcome at Simola Golf Country Estate on Friday, followed by an evening of Greek-themed cuisine and entertainment by Shaza.

On Saturday the ladies competed in a four

ball alliance competition at Knysna Golf Club, with the two best scores counting. The final day, Sunday, featured pairs playing in a betterball Stableford format at Simola, followed by a high tea at Knysna Golf Club. The weekend concluded with a prize-giving ceremony at Simola.

Teams Birdielicious and Sexy Swingers tied for first place. In a putting competition, Birdielicious emerged as the overall winner with 155 points, earning an additional prize.

The event's success was made possible through generous contributions from sponsors including Callaway, Standard Bank and Seeff Knysna.

With the first three years of the Ladies Loeries tournament proving successful, headline sponsors Seeff Knysna and Standard Bank are committed to expanding the event. The charity of choice this year was Kaws and an impressive R30 000 was raised in just ten minutes. These contributions will have a significant impact on Kaws and its important work, underscoring the power of collective effort for a good cause. Heartfelt thanks go out to all those who contributed to this charitable endeavour.
