REGIONAL - Cricket clubs in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay enjoyed a triumphant weekend in the latest round of SWD club cricket. Cavaliers, Pirates and Pioneers all saw victories come their way.

It was an action-packed weekend in Knysna and Plett, with both Premier League clubs (Cavaliers and Pioneers) welcoming visitors George and Union Stars 2 respectively on Saturday 25 November, while the Cavaliers' women's team returned to action against Kranshoek Cobras on Sunday. Pirates United B hosted Pioneers C at Loerie Park, and Pioneers B faced Cobras B in New Horizons, both fixtures played on Sunday.

Cavaliers took on an unbeaten George side at Loerie Park, but both came into the fixture in good form. Cavaliers bowled first and restricted George to 117. A nervy run chase followed but Cavaliers managed to secure a bonus point win by four wickets to go top of the log.

Over in New Horizons, hosts Pioneers were looking for their first win of the season against an unbeaten Union Stars 2 outfit.

Pioneers batted first and posted a score of 224. A measured bowling effort saw them bowl the visitors out for 132 to win by 92 runs, their first win of the season.

On Sunday, the Cavaliers women's team travelled to Kranshoek. They won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 240-2 in 30 overs; their highest total ever. The visitors then bowled well to dismiss their hosts for only 68, winning by 172 runs to find themselves top of the log.

In New Horizons on Sunday, Pioneers B faced Cobras B and won the toss choosing to bat first. They scored 126 before they were bowled out.

A tense second innings came for Cobras B, but they just missed out and fell 14 runs short as Pioneers B bowled them out for 112.

Back in Knysna, Pirates were on home soil against Pioneers C. The visitors chose to bowl first, and the hosts proved grateful for this choice, scoring 240-9 in their 40 overs. Pioneers were ultimately bowled out for only 52, handing Pirates B a 211-run victory.
