Building a future for Knysna through investment

KNYSNA - The Regional Investment Committee held a pre-conference workshop at the Thusong Centre on Saturday 2 December, which served as the precursor to the highly anticipate­d Regional Investment Conference slated for early March 2024.

The workshop was attended by a diversity of people who play an important role in ensuring a bright future for investment ment possibilit­ies. The primary focus was as to identify the investment opportunit­ies tie es necessary for the growth and developmen­t elo opment of the region, particular­ly the town wn of Knysna. It also aimed to address the th e support that local SMMEs require to achieve iev ve success.

Attendees could connect with key stakeholde­rs, including representa­tives from the business sector and regional government.

This environmen­t fostered a productive dialogue with participan­ts gaining valuable insights gh ts into the challenges and opportunit­ies itie es in the region.

It also allowed attendees to understand the needs of businesses es operating in Knysna and explore potential collaborat­ions that could dl lead to sustainabl­e growth.

One of the focus points was identifyin­g the investment needed for a business, including capital, infrastruc­ture, technology and human man m resources. Participan­ts learned about ou ut various investment sources, such as traditiona­l banks, venture capital firms, angel investors, government t grants and crowdfundi­ng platforms. ms .

Possible investment flows into Knysna, as well as investor commitment and interest, were discussed and the framework for the th next Regional Investment Conference was establishe­d.
