Time for a better summersummer

- Blake Linder

KNYSNA - Knysna is no stranger to having a rocking time over the festive season, with numerous big-name artists often taking to the stage in December to bring a truly festive end to the year.

This year is no different as top live acts in South Africa, ranging from A to Z (Arno Carstens to Karen Zoid), are set to feature in a star-studded line-up this December organised by Better Live.

As per custom, the December events take place at Blend Country Restaurant and encompass some newcomers to Knysna, such as fresh acoustic duo Bad Peter (in a doublebill show with Blues man Basson Laubscher on Tuesday 19 December), the super-funky Sunset Sweatshop (dress tropical on 23 December) and former front man of Prime Circle, Ross Learmonth on 27 December.

You need not fret about the familiar favourites - they y are also back to entertain:

Watershed returns for an already sold-out performance on Monday 18 December, and SA rock legend Karen Zoid takes to the stage with her acoustic experience on Wednesday 20 December, followed by the ever extraordinary Arno Carstens trio on 21 December. Then the absolute popphenomenon Lee Cole brings back his incredibly infectious music on Thursday 28 December.

The season grand finale will be a concert to remember, with two stalwarts of South African Rock: WONDERboom and the Black Cat Bones on Friday 29 December - award-winning bands with nearly half a century of music between them. There will also be a post-show remembrance to honour the late Kobus de Kock Jnr (front man of the Black Cat Bones, who sadly passed earlier this year).

Tickets are available on betterlive.co.za or quicket.co.za - or from Blend Country Restaurant.
