Knysna Book Festival: a literary extravaganza for a worthy cause
- Knysna bookworms are gearing up for the highly anticipated Knysna Book Festival that is set to take place from 15 to 17 March, offering an array of enriching literary experiences for book enthusiasts of all ages.
This year's festival boasts a line-up of South African authors who will share their stories, insights and knowledge with visitors.
The Knysna Book Festival is in support of a good cause as profits from the festival will directly benefit the Knysna Education Trust (Ket) and its efforts to sponsor pre-schoolers in critical early childhood education.
With an impressive selection of featured books, readers will find themselves immersed in captivating narratives from thoughtprovoking non-fiction and other inspiring works. There is something for everybody - from fiction to memoirs, poetry to biographies - as the festival offers a diverse range of genres.
The event will offer both established and emerging authors the opportunity to showcase their talents and connect with the audience in a meaningful way.
The Knysna Book Festival will be hosting a number of high-profile speakers who have made significant contributions to their respective fields. This year, the festival welcomes Gerard Labuschagne, South Africa's 'top cop', who will share his experiences and insights in law enforcement. Labuschagne's presence promises to shed light on the challenges faced in maintaining law and order while providing a glimpse into the world of crime investigation.
The Knysna Book Festival will be an opportunity for avid readers to engage with their favourite authors, including: author of
the popular cookbook The South African Vegan 2 Leozette Roode, award-winning journalist and author Michael Vlismas who will discuss a book written on Elon Musk, legal journalist and editor Dianne Hawker who authored How To Steal a Goldmine, and many more riveting storytellers. Other notable authors on the programme include Andy Kawa, Belinda Mountain, Catherine Black, Costa Ayiotis, Daniel Steyn, Dan Mafora, Grant Lottering, Hestelle van Staden, Jan Glazewski, Marecia Damons, Max Price, Michael Cardo, Neil Joubert, Ryan Blumenthal, Steve Dewitt, Teresa Ulyate and TJ Strydom.
Additionally, Max Price, former vice chancellor of the University of Cape Town and a prominent figure during the #RhodesMustFall and #FeesMustFall movements, will share his perspectives on social change and education reform with attendees.
