Paws memorial wall in Plettenberg Bay to honour beloved pets

- Zoë Fick

- Plettenberg Bay Animal Welfare Service (Paws) has recently unveiled an initiative to honour the memory of beloved dogs and cats. The newly established memorial wall offers pet owners in Plett the opportunity to say goodbye to their furry friends and create a lasting tribute to cherish their companions. With memorial plaques available for a nominal fee of R100, this initiative aims to provide solace and create a space for remembrance within the community.

Pets hold a special place in our hearts, providing unconditional love, companionship and joy throughout their lives.

When they pass away, it can be a deeply emotional and challenging time for pet owners.

This initiative acknowledges the significance of these relationships and provides a dedicated space for remembrance.

Each plaque, the size of a brick, offers pet owners the opportunity to personalise their tribute with their pet's name, a heartfelt message, and perhaps a cherished photograph. By having a physical memorial in a communal space, pet owners can find comfort in knowing that their pets' memories are honoured and shared with others who have experienced similar loss.

The memorial wall initiative extends an open invitation to pet owners in Plett to participate.

Whether it's a dog, a cat, or any other beloved pet, the Memorial Wall welcomes all pets who have left a significant mark on their owners' lives. Those interested in getting involved can reach out to Marianne Wardle, who can provide further details and assist with the memorial plaque creation process. Marianne can be contacted on 082 414 8425 or mwwg1942@gmail.com.
