A number of loyal Eden FM listeners who were looking forward to a luxurious boat trip organised by the radio station were sorely disappointed when they learnt last week that they would not be able to go on their dream cruise.

Due to an unfortunate administrative error, some of the listeners, who had made their full payments, were not booked on the boat and were not issued with tickets.

In 2023, Eden FM organised the luxurious boat trip on the MSC Splendida for over 650 loyal listeners who may not have had the opportunity otherwise. The trip, which commenced on Monday 18 March, was set to take the participants from Cape Town to Walvis Bay in Namibia.

To facilitate transportation, the radio station arranged for seven Intercape buses to transport the group. Listeners were given the option to make a deposit and pay for the boat trip in monthly instalments, making it more accessible and affordable for a wider audience.

The radio station was inundated with angry and disappointed listeners seeking answers and resolution.

The reasons behind the oversight are still being investigated, with possibilities ranging from individuals failing to adhere to their

monthly payment commitments to errors in the station's administration system that incorrectly allocated bookings.

Eden FM has released a statement in which the management sincerely apologised for the inconvenience and said it was taking immediate action to rectify the situation.

In the statement, Eden FM expressed deep regret for the disappointment experienced by many listeners. Station manager Morné Pietersen acknowledged the gravity of the

situation and personally apologised for the distress caused, reassuring them that every effort will be made to assist every person impacted by the unfortunate incident.

Eden FM said it is committed to assisting the affected individuals and will make arrangements to refund their money promptly.

The matter however has left a number of patrons dissatisfied and has sparked outrage online as many are upset that they

were unable to attend the cruise despite having paid for it. As one patron wrote on Facebook, "My mother and I signed up and paid for the cruise about a year ago. All her payments towards the cruise were up to date yet she still was not booked to go on the cruise. I know a number of people have had the same experience and we are certainly not happy about it as these are old people who have been looking forward to attend the cruise."
