Miss Earth comes around again

KNYSNA - It's time again for r young women to come out and sign up for being Miss Earth South Africa.

"'When you learn, teach. When en you get, give.' In the words of Maya a Angelou, we ask our young women to go out and pay it forward. That is how we change the world. This is our objective,” says Ella Bella, national director of Miss Earth h South Africa.

21st year. This is a programme that has been built, brick by brick, ick, and tree by tree, over two decades. des. Most importantl­y it has grown and empowered one young woman at a time. Looking back, today we can say that it has mentored hundreds of young women, says Bella.

Angelique Fourie, from Knysna, na, is a former Miss Earth South Africa rica runner-up and according to Bella ella "did a lot of good work in the community munity and the environmen­t. It would be amazing to get a young woman n that could follow in her footsteps."

It is not winning the title and competing internatio­nally that counts, says Bella. Each delegate te has the opportunit­y to grow and nd develop. "You w will learn about the greatest challenges challen our people face in the climate cli space, and how it affects af us as all as South Africans Af and global citizens. Being Be part of this leadership and empowermen­t programme means you will understand that you as an individual can make a difference. Moreover, you will become an active citizen in our nation caring for people and for our o planet. You will carry these th elements with you throughout thr your life and it is hoped that you will in turn impact the lives of those around arou you and pay it forward to the community that you engage engag in."
