KNYSNA - Knysna art lovers are in for an exciting visual treat as artist Hannelie Taut will be holding an exhibition on Thursday 28 March at 18:00 at Knysna Fine Art.

The exhibition will be hosted by the Knysna Arts Society and forms part of the town's Last Thursday initiative, which aims to bring more arts and culture events to the town for locals to immerse themselves in.

Knysna Fine Art is proud to commemorate its remarkable 21-year partnership with mixed media artist Hannalie Taute through a solo exhibition of her captivating artwork. The exhibition, titled Inner Sanctum, will showcase Taute's distinctive creations.

The artistic journey between Knysna Fine Art and Hannalie Taute began in 2003 when the gallery hosted her very first solo exhibition, titled "Siembamba - the toys are us." Since then, Taute's imaginative works have graced more than 40 group exhibitions worldwide and have been featured in eighteen solo shows across cities as diverse as Cape Town, Johannesburg, Sydney and Berlin.

Her art has found a cherished place in private collections and the academic collection of Unisa.

Taute's artistry is characterised by astonishing eccentricity and exuberance. She blends old photographs, rubber offcuts, sewing and embroidery to create pieces that simultaneously surprise, delight, and disturb the viewer.

Drawing inspiration from her family, folk tales, and the history of the materials she employs, Taute crafts whimsical artworks that offer a reinterpretation of the world she inhabits.

The upcoming exhibition, unveils an imagined world that captivates with its whimsical and amusing elements.
