A Gibs MBA gives graduates an edge
simply gain a more holistic experience by selecting electives within the various themes. The Gibs electives are clustered into the following themes: • Building personal effectiveness • Business in context • Finance • Innovation, technology and emerging markets • Leadership and culture • Stakeholder-focused business • Strategy • Entrepreneurship The integrated research report gives students the opportunity to investigate a business problem in an area or industry of interest. Our students are able to investigate a current business problem that is grounded in relevant academic theory and, by bridging the gap between practice and academia, are able to craft practical solutions to current business challenges.
Some of our students use the integrated research report to learn more about a problem or industry to give them the expertise they need to be able to consult in that area after completing the MBA.
For others, the integrated research report results in new careers or businesses being crafted.
The international immersion is one of the highlights of the Gibs MBA journey. Our students experience what it takes to do business in another country. Once again, our students have options they can choose from to give them relevant and practical international exposure. Gibs students can select:
• An exchange opportunity with an international business school to spend a few weeks attending electives with the host school, learning more about the business environment, cultural aspects and building a network with other students in their classes.
• Attendance at a summer school with one of our international partner schools. Summer schools traditionally run for one to two weeks and focus on exploring business opportunities for foreigners in that specific country.
• The Gibs global module, which is an eight-to 10-day immersion that focuses on enhancing the understanding of country competitiveness in various markets, and allows students to explore the political and socioeconomic environment of that country to understand fully the context of doing business in the country or region they are visiting.
This year’s destination choices for Gibs MBA students included the United States west and east coasts, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Europe, Russia, India, China, United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Israel, Mauritius, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.
With a world of choice available as part of the Gibs MBA, coupled with interaction in the classroom and with fellow classmates from different backgrounds and industries, Gibs students are armed with the latest business theories, practical tools and techniques.
They benefit from a broader network and deep personal insight into themselves. The Gibs MBA experience gives our students the courage to explore new possibilities and craft the future they deserve.
