Last farewell to King Goodwill

-

King Goodwill Zwelithini kabhekuzulu has been laid to rest. After nearly five decades of serving as the King of the Zulu nation, the monarch died in hospital a week ago. Kwazulu-natal has entered a week of mourning, and Wednesday saw hundreds of mourners in traditional attire outside the royal palace in Nongoma, prompting Health Minister Zweli Mkhize to confirm that attendees were trying their best to maintain Covid-19 regulations. The final farewell to the Zulu king was on Thursday morning during a private ceremony where President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered the eulogy. Even Eskom promised to keep the lights on for the duration of the event. The monarch ascended to the throne in 1971, three years after the death of his father, King Cyprian Bhekuzulu kasolomon.
