On a winning streak
South African tennis player Lloyd Harris reached his first ATP 500-level final at the Dubai Championships last week, where he was defeated convincingly by Russia’s Aslan Karatsev. But the mere achievement of reaching the finals is worth celebrating as he climbed a whopping 29 spots, from 81 to 52, in the latest ATP rankings. He landed in the finals after beating world number four Dominic Thiem from Austria and former world number four Kei Nishikori from Japan. Harris’s highest rank until recently was 72. The ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami has now kicked off and saw Harris win his opening match against American Emilio Nava, earning his maiden win.
