Slight employment boost

-

Work has become scarce in South Africa, and still enjoying a nine-to-five job is considered a privilege after the Covid-19 pandemic caused major job losses, in 2020. While many economic sectors are still buckling under the weight of the pandemic, Statistics South Africa announced a slight increase in the employment rate. Employment increased by 0.8% in the fourth quarter of 2020, with permanent employment decreasing and parttime work figures increasing. But despite the upward curve, South Africa still needs to recover from the 2019 drop of 5.8% over the same period.
