Queen Elizabeth back to work

-

The flag at Buckingham Palace hangs at half-mast after the death of Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. He passed away at the age of 99 at Windsor Castle, England last Friday. Prince Phillip, husband to Queen Elizabeth II, was part of her reign for more than six decades. The prince will be laid to rest on Saturday at the St George’s Chapel. Only 30 members of the royal family will attend the service, following Covid-19 protocol. Prince Harry has travelled to the UK to attend the funeral, leaving his pregnant wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, in the US. That the queen herself is back at work this week has left everyone in, well, astonishment. However, some say it has always been the queen’s custom to carry out her duty, no matter the circumstances. A few days after the passing of her husband, the queen marked the retirement of one of her most senior officials, an event that some argue could have been postponed. The queen will celebrate her 95th birthday in less than a week, on 21 April. But before that, she will say goodbye to her husband, to whom she was devoted for 73 years.
