More jobs in film
Twenty-million jobs could be created on the continent through the film industry alone, according to a report by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation. Currently about $5-million people work in Africa’s film industry, which contributes about $5-billion to the continent’s GDP. “The production and distribution of film and audiovisual works is one of the most dynamic growth sectors in the world ... Yet the economic potential of the film and audiovisual sector remains largely untapped,” the report stated.
