Subscriber of the Month: John Lamont
John lives in the Western Cape. He is a collector of militaria, having started as a small boy with a few items given to him by his father who served in the Transvaal Scottish during the Second World War – these items are still in his collection.
After serving in the SA Navy for 42 years, he served seven years in the Reserves. He joined the Historical Firearms Society in 1975, transferring to the Southern Africa Arms and Ammunition Collectors Association when it absorbed the HFS in 2001. John is a member of SAAACA (Gauteng), and enjoys attending the association’s functions to meet the friendly and knowledgeable collectors whom he has encountered there over the years. He is also an associate member of SAAACA (Cape) and a member at the False Bay Sport Shooting Club, where he is a Range Safety Officer.
John has been a subscriber for at least 30 years and has a full set of Man Magnum magazines, all in binders, from the first edition, including the Annuals.
