Magnum Collection

Today I received the latest edition of Magnum in the UK, and must congratulate you on reaching your 45th anniversary. Quite an achievement in these difficult times, and during some turbulent times in South Africa.

I always enjoy my visits to South Africa, although for business it is Johannesburg, but I usually manage a few days in Cape Town or its surrounds.

I collect quite a variety of books and magazines associated with shooting and hunting. In the case of some UK magazines, I have been a subscriber for 50 years.

The reason that I am contacting you is that I would like to acquire prior year’s copies of Magnum, if possible back to volume one. Do you think there are many readers who would have old volumes (probably a minimum of 12 copies) and be willing to sell them to a UK collector? Alternatively if you are aware of any parties who may have a complete or large collection and may be willing to dispose of them.

I find magazines add a wonderful perspective to reflect on how shooting and hunting have changed over the years.

In the case of, say, Guns Review, which sadly is no longer published in the UK, it is just amazing how it reflects changes in attitudes.
