Yet again, a member of the royal family of Japan is giving up her royal title to marry a commoner for love. Princess Ayako (28), daughter of the late Norihito, Prince Takamado, is set to tie the knot with shipping employee Kei Moriya. Seventh in line to the Chrysanthemum Throne, she is not the first in the family to opt out of royal duties and privileges: in 2017, her second cousin, Princess Mako, did the same when she married a commoner, as did Mako’s aunt, Sayako, formerly known as Princess Nori, in 2005.
