Nadia Murad is a young Yazidi woman born in an Iraqi village, who was kidnapped into slavery by Islamic State (IS). Since escaping her persecutors, she has been testifying relentlessly in public about the horror she endured and the genocide of her people, the Yazidis, a minority threatened with extermination by IS. Represented by human-rights lawyer Amal Clooney, Nadia is working to bring the leaders of IS before an international criminal court. Through their campaign, the two women weave memories of barbarity, the power of truth and the influence of celebrity. In October, Nadia was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
