DID YOU KNOW?
Évelyne Prouvost-Berry, who passed away after a fall from her bicycle on 19 July 2017, was part of the French bourgeoisie. Married at 19, she divorced a few years later, forcing her grandfather to accept her separation from the man who he hoped would become the head of his publishing group after him. At 34 years old, she launched French Cosmopolitan. When her grandfather sold the Marie Claire Group to another big publisher, she partnered with her sisters to buy it back.
