Mental health advocate pens self-help book

- Ntombizethu Ngcobo

Ayoung mental health advocate from Scottsville recently published a self-help book on the power of forgiveness.

Lindokuhle Radebe (21) published “The Peace in Forgiving” to raise awareness on mental health and how forgiveness can be used as medicine to cure depression.

“We all go through different experiences that are hard to move on from and that chain us to our past. With this book, I want to use my life story and journey to assure people in similar situations that the chains can be broken; you can be well again, no matter how sad, dark and painful your past might have been. You just have to forgive and let go,” she said.

Radebe always loved writing but never imagined having her name on a front cover. “It took me years to actually have confidence in my capabilities but when I finally did, I never looked back. Not everyone will support you from the get-go, so you need to work your way up to where you want to be. All I want is to heal people with this book. I know forgiveness can be a hard pill to swallow, especially if you are the one who needs to do the forgiving. Through trial and error, I learnt that forgiving isn’t forgetting, but to be able to move on without anger, and that’s peace,” said Radebe.

She said she is looking forward to writing and publishing more books. Currently, Radebe runs a club on Instagram where she goes live and tackles topics that are stigmatised but contribute to mental health. The Instagram handle is: @silentcries_club

Her book is available on Kindle and Amazon as a soft copy. Alternatively, for hard copies people can call her or reach out to on her social networks. Her Instagram handle is: lindokuhle_nqobile_radebe
