Thanks for paying Patchy’s vet bill

-

Maureen Vida from PMB Feral Cats TSR would like to thank everyone who contributed to the young calico cat Patchy’s vet bill this month.

Patchy, the cat from Oak Park who had been shot with a pellet gun and had to have her back leg amputated this month, had her medical bill at Chase Valley Veterinary Clinic paid in full in record time after Vida put out an appeal for assistance.

“Patchy is doing well due to a successful procedure and the loving care of her new family. She had her stitches out yesterday and no longer needs to wear her collar,” Vida said. She added that along with the contributions toward the vet bill pouring in, there has been an overwhelming reaction of disgust from the community regarding the “abhorrent and senseless act of cruelty against an innocent animal”.

The now three-legged Patchy is a young calico cat that had been wandering around the Oak Park area for the last few months and being fed by some of the residents. She stole the hearts of an Oak Park couple who began looking after and feeding her.

Earlier this month, she disappeared for 24 hours and returned with a pronounced limp and injury. On inspection by Chase Valley Vet, X-rays revealed a pellet was lodged in her back leg, requiring amputation.

Because Patchy had been a stray, Vida had assisted with appealing for funds toward the bill and her sterilisation and within a week, the R2000 had already been covered.

Vida expresses her gratitude to everyone who donated towards Patchy’s bill.

The residents who had been looking after Patchy have now given her a forever home.

“She has won over our hearts. In the short space we’ve been caring for her, we’ve gotten to know her and she has the most beautiful personality. She definitely adopted us. It’s like she just decided this would be her new home,” said the resident.

?? ?? Patchy is recovering very well post-operation and is adjusting to her new life on three legs in her new home.
