Gateway Christian School gets computer centre revamp
Agenerousdonation has enabled Gateway Christian School (GCS) to completely revamp its computer centre.
The donation not only equipped the centre with 30 brand new computers and comfortable chairs, but also afforded the roof of the computer centre to be replaced, just in time to safeguard the centre during the severe thunderstorm season in December and January. The funding also provided internet access to all 30 computers.
“This will give the learners at GCS access to the internet and learn basic computer skills and most importantly the confidence to use a computer. Grade 3 to Grade 7 now has access to the most up-todate equipment which enables the children to learn in a well-equipped computer centre. Acquiring these computer skills is hugely advantageous for Grade 7 learners when they commence high school once they have graduated from GCS.”
At the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Dr. Brian Andrews Computer Centre, attended by GCS first principal, Sandy Andrews and Dr. Andrews, learners expressed the delight of having enough computers so they no longer have to take turns or share.
Dr. Reg Codrington, a representative from the main funder, the Azusa Pacific International Education Foundation, said he was happy they were able to make a positive contribution towards the school’s education through the centre.
