Give a book, get a book

The KZN Museum is gearing up to celebrate Library Week next month, and is inviting the city to join in the fun.

Ahead of National Library Week, celebrated from March 14 to 21 this year, the KwaZulu-Natal Museum is running a book donation drive from February 8 to March 11.

Members of the public are encouraged to donate any unwanted or pre-loved books that will then become part of a book swap project during Library Week in March, wherein people can visit the museum, take a book free of charge, and leave behind something they are no longer reading for someone else to pick up.

The museum’s marketing manager, Viranna Frank, said the remainder of the donated books will be used for other special projects and occasions the museum will have throughout the year, including World Literacy Day (September 8), Book Week (September 6-12), as well as the museum’s weekly regular reading groups with local school children. “The books will add tremendous value to all of our programmes,” she added.

Books can be dropped off at the KZN Museum’s reception area from February 8 to March 11. Alternatively the public can drop off books for the museum at Bookworld, at Cascades Lifestyle Centre or Exclusive Books at Liberty Midlands Mall. The museum welcomes all types of books, be it fiction, non– fiction, novels, academic books, or children’s books.

For more information call the KZN Museum on 033 345 1404 and speak to any of the library staff.
