Woodworker needs for motorised wheelchair
ASunnysidePark Home resident, highly skilled in woodwork, has appealed to the community for help in acquiring a motorised wheelchair in order to gain easier access to the woodwork workshop and other parts of the grounds and buildings.
Attie Van Zuydam (73), an amputee, who is also hearing impaired, has not let his physical and hearing impairments preclude him from pursuing his talent in furniture making. He has been putting his skills to good use, crafting furniture for the residents of the home as well as for the staff.
Presently, he has the use of a standard wheelchair and has to be helped to and from the workshop. However, his mobility would be much easier if he could have the use of a motorised wheelchair.
He is therefore appealing to the wider community to sponsor a motorised wheelchair or alternatively provide the required parts to modify his existing standard wheelchair.
