Piano classics at the Tatham

-

Pietermaritzburg concert pianist, Christopher Duigan, will be playing ‘The Most Popular Piano Classics - Ever!’ at the Tatham Art Gallery in Chief Albert Luthuli Street at 12 noon on Sunday, February 27.

The programme will include Mozart’s Rondo alla turca, the Rustle of Spring, Chopin’s Raindrop Prelude, Liszt’s dazzling La campanella and Liebestraume, and the evocative Claire de lune by called Debussy.

The programme will be introduced in Duigan's unique and personal style giving the listener insightful and often quite amusing introductions to the stories and people behind the music.

Tickets are R100. Email chris@ fotag.co.za or SMS Music Revival at 083 417 4473 to book. A limited number of complimentary tickets for students and young pianists are available.

The concert will follow the opening of Gerard Bhengu: Tradition & Modernity in the main gallery at 11am on Sunday.

This comprehensive exhibition of works by Gerard Bhengu, curated by Juliette Leeb-du Toit, indicates how the historical background to his work is more layered than has thus far been realised.
