Plans to bring city’s theatre back to life

Msunduzi Municipality recently conducted a walkabout around Winston Churchill Theatre to assess its condition. Its assessment taken by municipal officials, found the facility was in need of water proofing, roof sheeting and tiling, re-ceiling and painting, electrical installations and repairs to air-conditioning systems, as well as repairs to flooring, windows and doors, paving and fencing.

These repairs will be addressed as part of the project to bring the theatre back to life.

During the walk around the Winston Churchill Theatre, it was also discovered that there were illegal residents in the basement, as well as illegal connections to water and electricity. This poses a huge risk on both the illegal residents and the building. The municipality is dealing with the issue to ensure that the residents vacate the building as soon as possible in order to allow the project to start.
