Celebrating the ultimate sacrifice for humankind
The Christian community are preparing to celebrate an auspicious event in the Christian calendar that many know as Easter.
This event is an annual event that commemorates the sacrifice made by God our Father when He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus the Christ, to pay a price for mankind that would redeem them from the curse of sin and death.
The Father's plan was always to reconcile alienated and fallen man to Himself. There has always been a plan in place to restore this relationship, and God was the orchestrator of this great plan. The stage was set for the greatest sacrifice that would see the Son of God go to the cross and give His life as a propitiation for all of mankind. This great act of selfless unconditional love is what has reached the hearts of billions of men and women over the ages and has pricked our hearts to recognise that we are now a part of God's great and mighty kingdom.
The miracle of this weekend culminated with the resurrection of Jesus. Today, we don't just recognise the death of Jesus as a debt paid for us all, but we also celebrate
His resurrection. His resurrection means we now will also live and not die. We take this opportunity today to wish the Christian community in Pietermaritzburg a joyous and safe Passover weekend.
