New wheels for Community Chest
Effective fundraising requires one to be on the move, quickly and safely. Access to reliable and safe transport was becoming a growing challenge to the Pietermaritzburg & District Community Chest in recent years as its ageing vehicle used by its resource mobilisation officers was signaling time to be put out to pasture.
Whilst the Community Chest is famous for raising millions of rands in funds and donationsin-kind for the benefit of other not-for-profit organisations, the public rarely gets to realise that the Community Chest itself is also only as effective at fundraising as its staff and the tools they have at hand to do the difficult task of mobilising funds and other donations on behalf of the less fortunate of our community. The need for another, more reliable motor vehicle was becoming an ever more urgent need for the Community Chest as the economy and communities opened up again, following the recent Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns.
It is with great appreciation and thanks then, that the Community Chest received, with gratitude last week, a brand new motor vehicle, generously sponsored jointly by the Sibaya Community Trust and Niresh Gayadin Insurance Brokers.
Sibaya Community Trust, chaired by renowned philanthropist Vivian Reddy, who is a longstanding patron of the Community
Chest, was established in 1998 to serve as a catalyst for social philanthropy.
Niresh Gayadin, is also a longstanding patron of the Community Chest.
Together the Community Chest council, staff, partner not-for-profit organisations and the thousands of beneficiaries across the uMgungundlovu District, salute both Sibaya Community Trust and Niresh Gayadin Insurance Brokers for the collaboration that made this
much needed resource available to the Community Chest.
Also, a special word of appreciation to Joey Govender of Joey’s Towing for fueling all Community Chest vehicles, since 2011.
