Municipality, young woman collaborates
A young woman with several national and international beauty accolades and titles to her name this week met with the executive mayor of Mossel Bay, alderman Harry Levendal and the municipal manager, Adv Thys Giliomee to consider ways in which her talents and compassion may be put to use to the benefit of the greater Mossel Bay.
The reigning Miss Africa United Nation Danica Barnard is not only known for her beauty. In 2016 her community work was recognised when she was awarded the deputy executive mayor councillor Dirk Kotzé Trophy for community work at the Curro private school’s prize giving. She is involved in several official charities and champions a number of her own initiatives to better the lives of others. She offers free modelling and pageant training to young aspiring models in the community and, through her Princess Project assists less fortunate beneficiaries to dress up in style for their matric farewell dance.
Even before the start of her recent collaboration with the local authority,
Danica regularly volunteered her time and energy by supporting projects such as the Rotary Gift of Giving, Pink Trees for Pauline, Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer, Dignity Dreams South Africa and many others.
“We are looking forward to Danica working closely with the municipality in support of our youth programmes,” alderman Levendal said.
