Water meters being replaced

-

Mossel Bay Municipality is rolling out a water meter replacement programme.

The water meters selected for the replacement programme include old meters, high consumption meters and meters of strategic importance located throughout the following suburbs: Dana Bay, Hartenbos/Kalahari Villas, Bay View, Outeniqua Strand/Canyon, Reebok, Heiderand and Mossel Bay town.

The reason these meters are being replaced by smart water meters is that the smart water meter offers greater measurement accuracy, while capturing and communicating network status and consumption data automatically and remotely.

These advantages will enable Mossel Bay Municipality to bill consumers who have smart water meters installed accurately, measuring their exact consumption, and gathering meter consumption data, resulting in better water management through the proactive identification of consumer leaks and abnormal usage, such as in the instance of burst pipes.

A once-off installation is performed by an approved municipal contractor, easily identified by branded apparel and vehicles in the name of Smart Water Services.

Furthermore, the contractor will be in possession of a municipal letter with a listed contact person from Mossel Bay Municipality.

The contractor may require access to consumer property and the replacement of the existing meter may result in a short interruption to the consumer’s water supply.

The meter replacement programme commenced on Wednesday, 14 February in Danabaai and rolls out through the rest of the other suburbs.
